About us | He kupu mō mātou
Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, this salaried Monday to Friday role will see you lead the day-to-day operations of our Fleet Services Team, ensuring tanker servicing is completed safely, efficiently and in line with business performance requirements. 

As Team Manager Fleet Services, you’ll be responsible for managing the people, vehicles and assets needed to support the safe and effective servicing of Fonterra equipment. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure fleet requirements and availability are understood and planned for, supporting scheduled fleet needs as well as additional business demands. 

This is a key leadership role where you’ll coach and support your team, manage workflows, monitor performance, and help create a positive, collaborative culture. You’ll also play an important role in identifying issues that may impact milk collection and/or quality, providing timely updates and insights to support operational decision-making. 

With a strong focus on safety, food safety and quality, compliance, continuous improvement and service delivery, you’ll help drive performance across the Fleet Services function while supporting Fonterra’s licence to operate and commitment to delivering safe, high-quality food.

You’ll be an experienced people leader who enjoys bringing teams together, building capability and creating a culture where people feel supported to perform at their best. You’ll be confident leading in a fast-paced operational environment and have a practical, solutions-focused approach to managing people, priorities and performance. 

You’ll bring strong operational delivery experience, with the ability to oversee day-to-day workflows, manage resources, support service levels and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Your leadership style will be collaborative and clear, with the confidence to coach team members, provide feedback, manage u
nderperformance when needed and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. 

The key to your success will be:

  • Experience leading, coaching and developing teams in a fast-paced operational environment. 
  • Strong operational delivery experience, including managing daily workflows, service levels and efficiency. 
  • Confidence managing performance, including conducting reviews, providing feedback and supporting team development. 
  • Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and collaborate across teams or with external partners. 
  • Experience leading or contributing to change, continuous improvement, system improvements or cultural shifts. 
  • Service experience in large workshop environments. 
  • Strong planning and resource allocation skills, including managing rosters, leave and team coverage. 
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, including understanding team risks and ensuring effective controls are in place. 
  • A practical understanding of compliance, governance, food safety and quality requirements. 
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to report on team performance, outcomes and operational issues.
