About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga
Role purpose:
Reporting to the Sales Director, Fonterra Korea Limited Liability Company, the Senior Account Manager will play an active and influential role within the Sales, Korea, North Asia team to drive business performance and deliver against Fonterra Global and North Asia’s vision and goals. Based in Seoul, Korea, this role is responsible for achieving budgeted sales for Fonterra North Asia Korea Branch ingredients customers, strengthening customer relationships, developing customer plans, and delivering agreed commercial objectives. We are looking for a strategic customer leader who can guide some of Korea’s largest and most important customers over the next 3–5 years, shaping long-term business development and sustainable growth rather than focusing solely on short-term revenue generation. The role focuses on value creation through customer leadership, strategic account planning, customer intimacy, market insight, and strong execution under the guidance of the Sales Director.
- Key Accountabilities
- Establish budgets aligned with regional and global planning, meet or exceed sales targets, apply the Fonterra sales methodology, monitor customer plan KPIs, manage receivables and credit limits, and identify mutually beneficial growth opportunities with customer stakeholders.
- Align customer and Fonterra expectations, support corrective actions and complaint resolution, ensure seamless customer service across order execution and customer plan delivery, establish customer-level price positioning with Sales Operations, maintain demand plans in DPA, and manage customer specification requirements through the PSLM process.
- Develop a deep understanding of customer strategies and business drivers, prepare and communicate dynamic customer plans using Fonterra’s sales and account planning methodology, align customer plans with Fonterra’s strategic plan, secure customer commitment, build relationships with key decision makers, and actively contribute to Fonterra Korea’s corporate strategy.
- Follow the Fonterra Way in customer interactions, co-opt internal resources to develop opportunities, collaborate with Global Account Managers and Global Sourcing Teams where appropriate, build strong internal networks, and share customer knowledge and insights while maintaining confidentiality.
- Identify opportunities to meet planned demand targets, follow agreed sales processes, oversee contracting and price negotiations within guidelines, manage sales in line with Sales Operations volume and pricing objectives, provide market pricing feedback to the Sales Director, track customer performance against agreed metrics, and drive cost-saving and specification rationalisation initiatives.
Critical Skills & Experience:
- University graduate; tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Engineering, or another commercially relevant discipline is valued. Equivalent senior Sales, Strategic Account Management, or Business Development experience will also be considered.
- More than 10 years’ experience within a food trading business or related company; Those with over 12 years’ sales experience within FMCG or ingredients is preferred.
- Experience operating in a multinational environment and managing sales activities across both international and domestic customers.
- Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, business acumen, customer leadership, category leadership, account management, business planning, customer development, marketing, strategy, and project development is preferred.
- Strong analytical, written, and communication skills in English and Korean, with demonstrated expertise in sales and business development.
