Position Description

Imagine Tomorrow with Us | Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō
At Fonterra Te Mātāpuna, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

As Learning Design Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping learning and capability across the Co-op. Leading a team of learning designers, you'll drive quality, consistency, and innovation across a diverse portfolio of learning initiatives while coaching and developing others to deliver their best work.

Reporting to the Head of Capability Design, you'll combine strategic leadership with hands-on design expertise, partnering with stakeholders to create user-centred, outcomes-focused learning solutions that support the Co-op's capability goals. You'll be comfortable designing across a broad range of learning needs, from technical and role-based training to enterprise-wide programmes including onboarding, leadership development, and organisational capability initiatives.

Working closely with consultants, digital designers, project leads, deployment leads, and external partners, you'll influence learning strategy, foster strong cross-functional collaboration, and act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. You'll help ensure learning solutions deliver meaningful impact for both our people and the business.

To note, we are flexible on location and welcome applications from candidates based in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton or Christchurch.

About You | Mōu

You're an experienced learning design practitioner with expertise in instructional design, learning strategy, and learning experience design, along with a proven ability to create solutions that drive performance and behaviour change.

Whether through formal people leadership or leading through influence, you've coached others, worked collaboratively across teams, and helped shape learning outcomes in complex environments. You're comfortable working from discovery through to delivery and bring a strong understanding of adult learning principles, human-centred design, and blended learning approaches.

You're equally confident in the technical craft of learning design and the consultative side of the role, building credibility with stakeholders, influencing decisions, and translating business needs into practical, engaging learning experiences.
