Our Story
For over 150 years, Fonterra farming families have been bringing the goodness of natural dairy to people all over the world.
As a farmer-owned Co-operative based in Aotearoa New Zealand, we are made up of thousands of farming families and employees working together for a better future. Our commitment to sustainable dairy nutrition aims to create goodness for generations to come.
We believe in the power of coming together to achieve a common purpose and are passionate about doing amazing things with dairy. We want to be the source of the world’s most valued dairy, working with our farmer shareholders and customers to provide sustainable dairy nutrition.
With generations of know-how in dairy, we are facing into the future with curiosity.

Together, We Create Goodness for Generations
Like all organisations, we’re on a journey. A journey that is shaped by our history, the future we want to lead into, our purpose and our values.
Most of all, our journey is shaped by our people and what they bring to the Co-op. Together, we’re playing to our strengths to be the source of the world’s most valued dairy.
Our strategy is grounded in our purpose, which is to empower our people to create goodness for generations.
Our values: Good Together, Better Every Day and Every Drop Counts, shape how we deliver this.

Haea Te Ata, Our Māori Strategy
We also recognise the need to strengthen our relationships with tangata whenua and acknowledge the unique contribution of Te Ao Māori (Māori culture and worldview) to Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our own Māori Strategy, called Haea te Ata, aims to enhance our purpose, influence our strategy and inspire our people by infusing Te Ao Māori into our core.
Manaakitanga is the care we show for others - it strengthens our relationships and communities.
Kaitiakitanga is how we care for our environment today, tomorrow, and for future generations.
Whanaungatanga is our Co-operative spirit - it sits at the heart of our values.
