Are you ready to step into a pivotal role that keeps one of New Zealand's premier research facilities running smoothly? Our Fonterra Research and Development Centre (FRDC) based in Palmerston North is seeking an experienced Storesperson to join the team on a permanent basis. This is your opportunity to contribute to the cutting-edge world of food research and development at Fonterra, a global leader in dairy innovation.

In this role, you will manage the receipt and dispatch of goods through our FRDC central store, ensuring each item meets its intended purpose and destination requirements. A strong emphasis on traceability, biosecurity, accurate documentation, and safety. This position focuses on inwards goods, manual receipting, data entry, precision and effective stakeholder management.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Deliver inward goods processes to ensure all incoming goods are verified as correct, compliant, and fit for purpose, and are accurately recorded and controlled within the inventory system to maintain traceability, quality, and regulatory compliance as per Fonterra global standards & FRDC standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to hazardous substances, biosecurity, food safety, and quality.
  • Receiving and unpacking: Receive, unload, and check incoming goods against invoices for accuracy and quality, including lab equipment, food samples, biological samples, and hazardous goods.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of inwards goods to the site.
  • Ensure documentation and information relating to the acceptance of ingredients and finished product is captured and managed accurately in site systems to support ongoing eligibility and traceability requirements.
  • Dispatch – Manage all outbound freight (national and international), including samples for export and other temperature-controlled products. Prepare items for dispatch and ensure correct quantities are shipped.
  • Demonstrate the ability to support the digitisation of inwards and outwards processes, applying strong digital knowledge and experience to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Arrange storage and removal of waste streams from site including recycling, stockfood, biohazard, and chemical waste.
  • Perform cycle counting and participate in stocktake activities.
  • Operate effectively within a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.

You’re an exceptional self-starter with a passion for learning, excellence, and safety. Skilled in organizing materials, maintaining safe, tidy storage areas, you consistently follow Fonterra’s standards for safety, quality, and biosecurity. Your teamwork, communication, and technical capability make you dependable in fast-paced environments.

Other key attributes include:
  • 1–3 years of experience in a food environment (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate deadlines
  • Methodical approach with strong attention to detail
  • Physical fitness with the ability to perform lifting, bending, and sustained movement throughout the workday
  • Experience with Excel, SharePoint, SOPs, PPL, and Microsoft 365
  • A driver’s licence with F endorsement is preferred but not essential
  • Strong learning agility and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes
  • Understanding of traceability and documentation requirements for food preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to ensure clear communication and alignment across the business.
