Whareroa is one of our largest sites. Along with a 7-hectare distribution centre and over 1000 employees, our site boasts a total of 11 plants which includes four milk powder plants, two cheese plants, a cream plant, a anhydrous milk fat plant plus a whey protein and casein plant. We have the capability to process an impressive 14 million litres of milk per day in peak season.


Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
As Shutdown Manager you will be an integral part of our Engineering Leadership Team and will provide direction and leadership to deliver a holistic site level approach to shut activities and identifying challenges and opportunities that could impact shut costs or timing.

You’ll provide hands on leadership, mentoring and coaching to the Maintenance Planning team to enable the achievement of core deliverables across maintenance planning and scheduling standards, shut planning and execution, asset information and early equipment management

Working closely with the wider manufacturing and engineering teams, you will be developing and managing the 12 month Shut and Execution plan to ensure we take a collaborative, consistent and safe approach for our staff and contractors alike, while making sure our activity in the shut period is aligned with our planning model.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your key responsibilities will include

• Defining, establishing and managing a shut budget and aligning all emergent and late works within the budget

• Managing contractor relationships including inductions and completion of contractor capability assessments

• Playing an integral role in the Site Services Leadership team and developing staff capability and understanding of Shut Management

• Leading all H&S requirements throughout the shut through identifying permit resource, leading H&S meetings, identifying and handling any conflict of work activities

We are looking for a leader who has a passion for project management, communication, problem solving and planning. With a natural ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders, you will develop and strengthen key relationships across functional teams and external stakeholders.

Additional skills you will bring to this role:

• Previous experience in Project Management in a large manufacturing environment is desirable however not essential

• Budgeting and cost control

• Experience with shutdown or maintenance management and a sound understanding of the principles of asset care and implementation.

• Maintenance requirements

• Exceptional communication and organisational skills, with flexibility around fluctuating

• Proficiency with SAP/CMMS Maintenance Systems and MS Project planning and scheduling tools.

• Strong focus on health and safety

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering or Project Management is preferred
