Our Clandeboye site is Fonterra’s largest manufacturing site, with 11 plants processing, at peak up to 13 million litres of milk per day through some of the biggest dryers & innovative plants in the world. We employ over 1,200 people across the value stream all bringing a diverse range of skills, expertise and thought to our operation. 

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Service Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations to ensure the highest standards of service for our fleet. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage a skilled team, oversee maintenance schedules, and drive operational excellence maintaining 79 trucks and trailer units for Fonterra's largest transport depot. Your work is critical — keeping our fleet-maintained means keeping the wheels turning and the milk flowing for the region. 

In this role your key responsibilities will include: 
  • Manage day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring efficiency and safety.
  • Lead and develop a team of heavy fleet service technicians
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and repair schedules for our fleet of tankers and trailers 
  • Monitor quality control and compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage budgets, inventory, and supplier / vendor relationships.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance.

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday days.

  • Hands-on, proven experience running a workshop or fleet management — you know the ins and outs of a workshop operation and what it takes to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Exposure to leading and managing a unionised workforce, with the ability to build strong relationships and maintain a positive, collaborative environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication and people skills - you know how to engage, coach and empower with a track record of building high-performing teams and taking others on the journey with you. 
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
  • Ability to set, manage and meet budgets and operational KPIs.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Industry experience - you'll have experience in or knowledge of Heavy Fleet Servicing, Automotive Engineering, or Manufacturing Maintenance
  • You will be confident using various computer systems including maintenance management systems, reporting tools and digital workflows to keep operations efficient
