We’re looking for a Regulatory Manager – Americas to join our team in Chicago and play a critical role in enabling business growth through regulatory leadership, advocacy, and compliance excellence across North and Latin America.
About the Role
* Must be Chicago based
Reporting to the Manager, Trade Strategy, and Stakeholder Affairs, you’ll lead regulatory strategy and execution across the Americas. You’ll ensure compliant market access, manage regulatory risk, and champion Fonterra’s position with industry bodies and government authorities.
This is a highly visible role that partners closely with commercial, quality, and global regulatory teams, supporting both ingredients and foodservice businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the Americas Regulatory Plan aligned with business strategy and global priorities
- Lead regulatory risk assessments, gap analysis, and mitigation strategies
- Ensure compliance across import, export, and manufacturing operations
- Drive regulatory advocacy and policy engagement with authorities and industry groups
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, customers, and key stakeholders
- Monitor and interpret the evolving regulatory landscape across the Americas
- Translate regulatory developments into clear commercial insights and actions
- Represent Fonterra in industry forums and associations
About You
You’re a commercially minded regulatory professional who thrives in a complex, fast-moving, global environment. You bring a pragmatic, risk-based approach and enjoy partnering with cross-functional teams to enable business growth while navigating an evolving regulatory landscape. With strong relationship-building and influencing skills, you’re confident engaging with both internal stakeholders and external authorities, balancing compliance requirements with commercial outcomes.
You’ll also bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in food regulatory affairs, ideally within dairy or ingredients
- Strong understanding of food regulatory frameworks and trade compliance
- Experience working across multiple markets or regions
- Proven ability to engage, influence and build credibility with diverse stakeholders
- A science-based qualification (e.g. Food Technology, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs)
Bilingual English/Spanish capability (advantageous)
