Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
 We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity with plenty of variety and challenge for an experienced Health and Safety practitioner to be responsible for the continuous improvement of health and safety across our Whareroa Cool stores 1-8 replacement, Project Koru. 
This two-year, fixed term role is based at our Whareroa manufacturing site will provide you with growth and opportunity to progress your health and safety career and make tangible, rewarding impacts to the safety of work.

You will directly report to the Project Manager and will have autonomy to make this role your own and bring in new ideas. You will work towards the uplift of the team capability, and guide and coach the project staff on best practice Health and Safety and permitting processes.

A key focus of your role will be to support the proactive management of risks and upskill the project team in health and safety procedures and practises. You will be a trusted advisor, providing hands-on leadership and coaching to the project team and the permit issuers, supporting continuous improvement, and bringing transformational change in the projects overall Health and Safety approach. Your day-to-day will include building effective relationships, sharing best practices, coaching, and mentoring to ensure implementation of a consistent approach, and ensuring compliance requirements are met.

          
Mōu | About You
You bring not only strong technical health and safety expertise but also the ability to coach, guide, and influence others in best practice. Ideally, you have a background in construction or operations, experience with permit issuing, and exposure to process safety management.

You should be confident presenting to large groups and have experience in people management or coaching. As a passionate relationship-builder, you excel at stakeholder management and possess natural resilience, allowing you to proactively manage expectations and succeed in this role.

Critical skills and experience required:

- A relevant Health and Safety degree or diploma
- Experience with permit-to-work systems; ideally, you are a qualified permit issuer
- Significant prior experience in construction HSE management and permit processes
- Experience in leadership roles and conflict management
- Technical health and safety management expertise, and an understanding of process safety or experience in major hazard facilities
- Ability to instil trust across a diverse workforce and establish meaningful relationships with stakeholders
- A proven track record of cultivating and maintaining a high-performing team culture and project environment
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
