Position Description

Our Co-operative

Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō | Imagine Tomorrow with Us
At Fonterra, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a People Solutions Consultant to join our Employment Relations (ER) workstream, one of four workstreams within our People Solutions team.

As an experienced ER professional, you will bring deep expertise, sound judgement, and the confidence and presence to operate as a trusted internal adviser. You’ll manage complex employment relations cases, escalations, and capability uplift, while acting as a go to ER specialist and informal leader within the team.

As we continue to build maturity in our People Solutions model, you’ll support the development of people leaders and Advisors by setting high standards of ER practice and modelling a confident, proactive, and solutions focused approach. You’ll provide coaching, guidance, and reassurance, helping others build both capability and confidence in their decision making.

You’ll collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, bringing energy, clarity, and credibility to your engagements, and leveraging your ER expertise to deliver high quality, pragmatic advice via phone and online channels. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing evolution of our systems, processes, and ways of working.

Other key responsibilities include:
  • Continuously improving systems, tools, and processes to enhance the customer experience
  • Leading or contributing to the deployment and implementation of process, project, and policy changes
  • Advocating for, educating on, and embedding our P&C Operating Model, working in strong partnership across the broader P&C function to deliver a high impact service

Mōu | About You
Ideally, you’ll bring experience in a shared services or HR operational environment, along with several years of hands on employment relations experience. You’re confident navigating complex and sensitive ER processes and are known for communicating clearly, calmly, and with conviction, even in high pressure or ambiguous situations.

You bring a consultative mindset and a strong advisory foundation, and naturally step into an informal leadership, coaching, or mentoring role. You’re proactive and engaging in how you work, comfortable influencing without authority, and focussed on enabling others to succeed.

You’re passionate about developing others—whether that’s supporting junior team members or building the confidence and capability of people leaders—while role modelling the behaviours and ways of working we want to see across People Solutions.

If you’re looking to grow your career within People & Culture and deepen your ER expertise in a progressive, values led organisation, this is a wonderful opportunity to build a strong foundation with an industry leader.
