Position Description

Imagine Tomorrow with Us | Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō
At Fonterra Te Mātāpuna, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

As a People Solutions Advisor, you’ll play a key role in shaping the employee experience and enabling leaders across the Coop. This high-impact role blends expert HR advice, sound judgement, and continuous improvement, where you’ll deliver clear, proactive guidance while strengthening service quality and contributing to a high-performing team culture.

You’ll join our Leave, Pay and Policy portfolio, taking end-to-end ownership of supporting employees covered by both individual and collective agreements. Alongside core pay and leave queries, you’ll provide guidance on policy and collective agreement interpretation — from Flexible Working Arrangements through to helping leaders apply annualised hours in a practical way — giving you exposure to a broad and varied range of work.

As a trusted subject matter expert, you’ll balance people-focused support with operational delivery. Your work will include:

  • Managing a range of phone and email queries with care and efficiency
  • Providing high-quality advice that empowers people leaders to make confident, timely decisions
  • Using sound judgement to problem solve, coach, and escalate where required
  • Contributing to the delivery of new people initiatives, policies, processes, and technology
  • Driving continuous improvement to enhance service delivery and ways of working

About You | Mōu

You’re an experienced HR practitioner with strong people skills, sound judgement, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You bring curiosity, confidence, and care to your work, and are comfortable operating as a trusted advisor in a complex environment.

You have a solid understanding of employment legislation, along with experience in shared services or fast-paced HR environments where prioritisation, adaptability, and collaboration are essential. You’re confident navigating ambiguity and balancing risk, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

You bring experience working in a unionised environment and are skilled in interpreting and providing guidance on collective agreements. You also have a strong continuous improvement mindset, with a collaborative and inquisitive approach to problem solving.

You’re thoughtful, resilient, and motivated to make a meaningful contribution. If you enjoy solving complex problems, supporting others, and being part of a team that values both people and performance, this role could be a great fit for you.
