At Fonterra, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

He kupu mō mātou | About us
Fonterra is a global dairy co operative owned by New Zealand farming families. Our operations span complex manufacturing, processing, and logistics networks, supplying nutrition to millions of people worldwide.

Within Fonterra, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees asset‑intensive, high‑hazard operations that require disciplined operational risk management.  Effective risk control and resilience are critical to protecting people, product, communities, and performance.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
As Manager Risk Partnering, you will enable senior leaders across the operational portfolio to make confident, well balanced decisions in complex and uncertain environments.  Acting as a trusted advisor, you will bring clarity to ambiguity, translate risk appetite into practical action, and help leaders navigate irreducible trade offs between compliance, risk, cost, performance and sustainable delivery.

A few areas of focus will be to:
  • Partner closely with senior leaders to frame high impact decisions, turning complexity into clear options with consequences and recommendations
  • Translate operational risk appetite statements into clear, real time decision guidance that supports effective action, including justification for inaction.
  • Shape and support a coherent operational risk narrative alongside executive and governance forums
  • Embed risk and performance thinking into planning discussions so it manages a risk informed delivery while respecting the need to protect the downside of risk.
  • Build confidence and capability in leaders to engage constructively with risk and performance uncertainty
This role reports to the General Manager, Risk and reports into the Office of the CFO while being based in Auckland.

Mōu | About You
You are comfortable operating where clarity from complexity is your forte.  You are disciplined in logical thinking and you can influence and persuade others judgment to drive better decision outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • 8-12 years’ experience in complex operational risk, enterprise risk, or complex decision support roles within large, operationally intensive organisations
  • Demonstrated experience partnering as a trusted advisor to tenured, senior leaders in fast moving, ambiguous environments
  • Strong capability in framing complex binds, plausible options, and calculated trade offs under uncertainty, with clear recommendations
  • Proven ability to communicate complex risk topics clearly and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience working across multiple operational risk pillars (e.g. HSW, FSQ, environment, engineering, assets, energy) while maintaining a single, aligned enterprise driven narrative
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline; additional education, training or experience in complex risk, resilience, or decision making frameworks is also advantageous.
