He kupu mō mātou | About us
Established in 1881, our Edendale manufacturing site is New Zealand’s oldest dairy processing site and with 13 plants, we produce 14 million bags of milk powder each year for export and process up to 15 million litres of milk every day in peak season.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
As the Environmental Advisor you are an essential part of our environmental team. You will lead and support significant aspects of the site Environmental Management System, and you will be involved in internal and external audits, resource consent management, as well as initiating improvement work.
 
  • Reporting to the Environmental Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead key aspects of the site’s Environmental Management system in accordance with ISO14001, such as carrying out departmental risk reviews, closeout of audit actions and investigations of non-conformances 
  • Ensure compliance with resource consents, evaluate compliance monitoring data and prepare monthly and annual compliance reports
  • Review and update environmental management plans, and contribute to the review and improvement of departmental operational procedures to manage environmental risks
  • Undertake investigations into environmental incidents and ensure learnings are captured and shared
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Council, Iwi, local community) in relation to sustainability and environmental matters
  • Support site with environmental awareness training, onsite incident response and other sustainability initiatives such as solid waste, water and energy
  • Support the Environmental team with stormwater management and process wastewater treatment
  • Engage and manage contractors and consultants to enable effective environmental management
             
Mōu | About You

Ideally holding a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Management, your strong technical skills, conceptual mindset, and ability to analyse data will help you succeed and gain credibility when dealing with stakeholders. This role is a great opportunity to develop and extend your environmental management skillset.

 We will also be looking for:
Exposure to environmental compliance and management systems (with reference to ISO 14001)
A genuine commitment and passion for environmental sustainability
Experience in Excel and data analysis with a natural flair for proactive problem-solving
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ideally, experience within a manufacturing and /or agricultural industry environment.
