At Te Mātāpuna Fonterra, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

He kupu mō mātou | About us
Whareroa is one of our largest sites. Along with a 7-hectare distribution centre and over 1000 employees, our site boasts a total of 11 plants which includes four milk powder plants, two cheese plants, a cream plant, a anhydrous milk fat plant plus a whey protein and casein plant. We have the capability to process an impressive 14 million litres of milk per day in peak season.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
Operating in the quality-focused environment of our site, this is a great opportunity to join our Maintenance team as an Electrical Technician and ensure our site is running at its peak.
In this high-impact role, you’ll be a key member of our Maintenance Team, responsible for both electrical and basic instrumentation services. With a focus on safety, quality, and plant stability, you’ll use your solid problem-solving skills to fault find and repair breakdowns with confidence. Focusing on preventative maintenance of our manufacturing and utilities equipment across the site, you’ll be challenged to manage plant availability and contribute to long-term practical solutions.

Your natural curiosity and drive coupled with your ability to work unsupervised will also see you driving continuous improvement initiatives on equipment and process reliability with industry-leading automated technology.

This role operates on a 2 day, 2 nights (4 on 4 off) shift pattern.

Mōu | About You
This is a busy role with a lot of independent work, so you’ll need to be both confident to work individually as well as a great team player to excel here. As a trusted source of knowledge, you’ll bring excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills and your familiarity with high-speed machinery will stand you in good stead. With your mature, punctual approach you’ll fit well within the team.
Other required key skills and experience include:

•             NZ registered Electrician (Cert in Electrical Engineering L4 or higher) with a current practicing license
•             Proven industrial electrical experience – ideally from within an FMCG manufacturing environment
•             Knowledge and basic experience with mechanical and instrumentation work
•             Familiarity with data systems (HMI, PLCs, SCADA)
