Position Description

Overview: 
  • To perform routine sampling and testing on incoming materials (ingredients, packaging materials), utilities (incoming water), finished products, plant & machine hygiene monitoring according to Quality Plan to ensure product quality and food safety.
  • Responsible to ensure incoming material, semi and finished products are released in SAP system on time to fulfil sales order.
  • To fulfil Food Safety and Quality objectives and perform Good Laboratory Practise

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control/ Assurance

1. Perform routine inspection and testing at processing & packing of Cultured and String Cheese products according to Quality Plan:
  • To perform on-line sampling and testing of yoghurt, culture milk drink and String Cheese products.
    • For String cheese detail tasks include :
    • Inprocess and Final production inspections – sampling and testing as per Quality Plan
    • Functionality Test – sampling and testing
    • Arrange samples and send to External lab
  • To transfer, arrange and record retention/ stress test samples accordingly for each checking and retrieval.
  • To update and dispose expire retention samples accordingly.
  • To inspect and dispose stress test samples accordingly.
  • To report non-conforming activities base on ABC Grading or products to superior for actions.
  • To print out QC analysis report, check the test results and verify CCP, OIML record.
  • To perform assorted packs and bundle check.
  • To record stress test room temperature. ( for cultured product)
  • To release and block product in SAP.

2. Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, packaging materials, utilities and environmental samples as per Quality Plan :
  • Preparation of media/ diluent and samples to be analysed
  • To perform testing of raw materials, incoming water, finished products, packaging material (bottles), hygiene swab, air quality as well as complaint/ non-conforming/ investigative samples, etc.
  • Decontamination of used items from Microbiological Lab (e.g. dispose and autoclave used petri dish).
  • To perform autoclave’s sterility performance weekly.
  • To report non-conforming activities or products based on ABC Grading to superior for actions.
  • To record incubators’ temperature and laminar flow’s air velocity according to schedule.
3. Incoming Materials (Raw Material, Packaging Material), Water & Wastewater 
  • To perform sampling and testing of incoming materials, treated incoming water and wastewater according to quality plan.
  • To report non-conformance activities to superior for actions.
4. Colour solution preparation incoming
  • To ensure and support colour solution prepared according to procedures and formulation on time to support production.
5. Customer complaint
  • To carry out investigation on complaint cases and provide investigation finding report on time.
  • To fill in the laboratory report for complaint analysis.
6. Equipment care and chemical preparation 
  • To perform verification of equipment (pH meter. Moisture analyser and weighing balance) 
  • To prepare chemical for testing for main general lab and in-process laboratory
  • Monitor and highlight to superior stock on hand.
  • To be responsible in handling and managing equipment in laboratory and highlight to superior for damage equipment

7. ISO/ HACCP/ HALAL/ FSSC certification / YUM! 
  • Ensure all documents, records are updated and procedures are complied.
  • Contribute to continual improvement of food safety management system and laboratory management system.
  • Assist in supplier quality audit periodically. 

8. Lab consumable, chemical stocks and schedule waste management ( lab chemicals).
  • To ensure expired chemicals is arranged for disposal accordingly.
  • To ensure schedule waste is disposed in a correct manner by the whole team.
Plant and operation

1. Smooth and sustained operation and plant 5S/GMP standards
  • To conduct 5S/GMP audit according to assigned schedule.
  • Supervise QC team to close 5S/GMP audit findings.
  • To carry out glass/hard plastic inspection according to assigned schedule.
  • To conduct and support verification on improvement project initiated by production. 
  • Other ad-hoc tasks or projects allocated.
  • To attend QC department meeting and DDS meeting to ensure smooth internal communication.
  • Involve in the traceability activity

2. Health & Safety Support
  • Ensure the H&S critical risk performed as per schedule and review and action closed for every 6 months.
  • Assist to review lab hazard and report if there has any issue. 
  • Ensure all chemical waste is managed properly & all waste must be disposed end of the day on daily basis, & records maintained.
  • Ensure MSDS is updated as per chemicals used in lab communication

Qualifications:
  • SPM, STPM, Certificate, Diploma in any discipline
  • Preferably 1 year in Food Industry/FMCG/Dairy Manufacturing 
  • GMP, HACCP,GLP, laboratory knowledge / testing in food Industry. 
  • Laboratory knowledge / skills in Microbiology or Quality Control in food Industry
