Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity
The Senior Environmental Engineer will be a technical lead for water projects and provide subject matter expertise overseeing Fonterra’s processing and manufacturing plants.

The role will also provide technical support to manufacturing sites, participation in innovation in dairy manufacturing, environment technology & process disciplines and will maintain and develop knowledge in environment technology.

The role contributes to the long-term sustainability goals of the business through a projects and technical support focus.

Other key responsibilities include:
  • Assess risks associated with quality and quantity of water supply to NZ manufacturing sites.
  • Determine feasibility and plan projects for water security and treatment capability.
  • Undertake concept design and optimisation of water treatment systems.
  • Manage project work, project accounting and allocation of time.
  • Manage minor capital works, liaise with capital projects team.
  • Provide technical support and maintain relationships with site environmental staff
  • Ensure consistent methods are used in the implementation of environmental developments.
  • Provide regular reporting and dissemination of projects and work   
  • Assist in development of environmental staff through training and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental standards are established in technical area.


** Preferred location is Palmerston North, Hamilton, Auckland or Christchurch

With a natural ability to build high performing teams and influence diverse groups of stakeholders, you will build and strengthen key relationships across the business and community.

Other key success enablers include:
  • Experience in water treatment design.
  • Tertiary qualification in environmental technology or engineering fields.
  • Experience in climate-related risks.
  • Experience in risk management and options assessments.
  • Strong communication skills, allowing you to communicate up and down the business.
