About the opportunity
Fonterra is seeking an experienced, driven, and passionate People and Culture (P&C) Business Partner to join our business in Malaysia. Based at our Head office and reporting to the HR Director, the role ensures that people processes, programs and systems are aligned to the Business Unit (BU), Region or Market strategy and business outcomes as well as with the overall direction of the People & Culture function.
Accountabilities
- Fosters a positive organisational culture through the implementation of initiatives focused on employee engagement, High-Performance Teams (HPT). Coaching and nurturing a conducive work environment that supports growth and success.
- Works with people leaders on change interventions, facilitating organisation design and process outcomes that ensure functions are well positioned to deliver against strategic priorities.
- Partners with the Global/Regional Team to ensure people are a priority of every decision and to strategically challenge and stretch the teams’ thinking.
- In collaboration with our global P&C Centres of Excellence based in New Zealand, contributes to the design of the core P&C value drivers that support the business strategy outcomes. Is an agile contributor to projects seeking to solve the most pressing P&C issues of the day.
- Ensures that People Leaders are clear on the role and contribution of each element of the P&C Operating Model and use each appropriately. Acts as an advocate for the use of Āwhina (our internal self-help platform) and champions the role of the People Solutions teams (our front-line P&C support).
- When required, is the point of escalation from the People Solutions team of the more complex ER/IR cases, those that require particular local context and risk management.
- Builds and sustains effective working relationships with labour unions. Interprets, implements, and monitors adherence and compliance with Country / Industrial Legislation. Facilitates conflict resolution and disputes always ensuring effective communication.

You will also have:
- A broad working knowledge of generalist HR processes, ideally gained within a large, global and complex organisations
- Knowledge of HR management concepts & practices, talent management, workforce planning, performance management, L&D and Malaysian labour law
- Ability to design and deliver people programs and initiatives with effective project management, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to communicate and build partnerships with all levels of management and employees
